WSBEA Conference October 2009
Four CTE teacher groups have ‘Came Together’ to make one fabulous and dynamic conference for all. Members of the Washington State Business Education Association (WSBEA), the Washington Association of Marketing Educators (WAME), the Washington Diversified Occupation Teachers, and the Career Guidance Counselors Association (CGCA) joined together learn and share ideas, tips, solutions, updates and strategies to improve student learning. The conference took place in Wenatchee, Washington October 7-10th, 2009.
During the three-day conference, attendees had opportunities to update information about financial literacy, internet safety, various strategies to guide students in career explorations, incorporating business and technical math into CTE programs, Junior Achievement, Business Week, how instructors can help student improve their writing, writing frameworks, “Dress for Success,” setting up on-line courses, and what’s new at OSPI for the Business and Marketing Pathway.
•Very fun! Great decorations! Thanks for all the work you all do! I like having it together.
•Loved it together! Loved it here in Wenatchee!! I got to hit 2 birds with one stone. I am WSBEA+WAME. Great facilities, easy parking, good food, wonderful weather.
•The workshops were fresh and new. Combining with marketing was a good idea-more ideas to share.
•I really enjoyed the session on tips from experienced marketing teachers. If you continue to have all of these groups together, I will continue to attend.
•I had a wonderful time at the conference and came away with great information! Thank you for all of your hard work in putting this wonderful training together!!
•This was a most enjoyable and worth-while conference. I’m going home with some great ideas! I loved the BAM and getting together with the other groups! Excellent presenters.
•It was one of the best WSBEA conferences I’ve attended! Great job with the sessions, very useful.
•I think it made sense to have the different groups meet at one conference- we are all interested in the same things. Too many choices for breakout sessions. Loved having people from OSPI speak. Have agenda posted earlier & market the conference for increased attendance.
•Kevin Griffin from the Seahawks & Sounders is a very powerful speaker. Good information & very interesting. Overall good workshops & conferences. Should have morning workshops writing frameworks for the popular classes.
•*lots of practical information. This was my first CTE conference & I found it extremely helpful.
•EXCELLENT BREAK-OUTS. A LOT OF DIFFERENT CHOICES! ONE OF THE BEST FALL CONFERENCES I’VE ATTENDED. MEALS WERE GREAT. WELL-ORGANIZED! KEYNOTE SPEAKERS VERY GOOD.
•Need more marketing presenters. Would like to see more professional vendors providing training in technology areas such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash training. Along with curriculum choices for these areas. Teachers together are all alone in the efforts to learn the latest software & research books & other online resources. OSPI & Associations need to lead the way.
•I really like having this conference in Wenatchee. It’s affordable and very centrally located. Appreciated the frameworks on Financial Fitness. It fits with what I need. Wenatchee is great.
